No. Truero is for understanding, validating, and cleaning tabular data before it causes problems in exploration, reporting, pipelines, compliance, or ML. You choose the purpose when you scan; cleaning checks run for general data work, and ML checks run when training or regulatory context needs them.

Does my data leave my machine?

Accepted Answer

No. Every scan runs entirely on your local machine. Your raw data never leaves your computer. Only summary metrics and scan results are used when uploading to the dashboard, and that is optional.

What kind of files does it support?

Truero currently supports CSV, Excel, JSON, and Parquet files. Point it at any of these and it will scan automatically. Files are loaded in memory on your machine, so very large files depend on available RAM.

Does Truero support custom rules?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Besides built in checks, you can pick catalog custom rules (such as email format, allowed values, length bounds, and conditional requirements), bind them to columns, and save them as a reusable profile. Truero flags rows that break those house rules. It is not a full code first assertion framework; for arbitrary Python schemas you may still use tools like Pandera or Great Expectations alongside Truero.

How is Truero different from Pandas or Great Expectations?

Pandas is a general data toolkit and Great Expectations or Pandera are code first assertion frameworks you author yourself. Truero runs built in quality checks and catalog custom rules interactively, then suggests fixes you choose to apply, without writing schemas first.

What happens after a scan?

Truero shows every issue it found and suggests a fix for each one. You choose what to do next. It can keep an audit snapshot of the original file. Truero does not auto rewrite your dataset or provide a visual point and click cluster cleaning editor.
